Owners Antonio and Julia

Antonio and Julia are the husband and wife team behind La Pizzeria Italiana. Antonio hails from Sardinia, Italy, while Julia was born here in Australia to Calabrese parents. Antonio has traveled extensively, bringing his culinary talents to places like Porto Cervo, London, and Melbourne. Julia, with her background in film, TV, and theatre, has also journeyed widely within the creative industry.
Their paths crossed in Melbourne in 2016, at a pizzeria of all places! Julia was visiting family, and Antonio was working as a pizzaiolo in a well-known restaurant. Fast forward to 2024, and they now have a pizzeria of their own.
Many of you might remember us from our cozy bar on Toorak Road in South Yarra, where we spent five wonderful years. For those who don’t know us yet, we can’t wait to meet you and share our passion for good food, good pizza and good wine (and a good film too!)
And that’s the very, very brief version of our love story. The longer version might require a few bottles of wine to tell!
